What are the opportunities interim management offers companies?
- The interim manager has knowledge of your own (expressed as a consultant) basic strategic direction.
- The inevitable dependency on internal managers is removed.
- The company is not left on its own with a consultant‘s analysis and suggestions.
- The prospects for success are greater, for the above named reasons.
- The consultant knows the company and can advise the company better and more practically should further projects arrive.
- Though the consultant retains “outside perspective”.
What does the trend research say?
The concept of the temporary placement of senior managers in companies has successively established itself in Germany since the 1980s. Since then, the steady growth of the industry has produced about 30 companies that offer this service.
The comparison with countries like the Netherlands, Great Britain or the United States shows that the international development is considerably beyond these figures. For example, in Silicon Valley, only 40 percent of the employees have a classic long-term contract. In Great Britain, 20 percent of all managers are already being placed for a limited period of time. The German market potential for interim management continues to increase, and is still far from exhausted.
The evolution from a mere trend toward a standard manner of working also confirms the following figures:
- By 2050, 60 percent of all working conditions in Germany will be flexible (Source: Wirtschaftswoche, 12.2.2007/Mathias Horx)
- The market for interim management grows in Germany about 20 percent every year, in 2009 the market volume in Germany was EUR 1.6 billion (Source: AIMP, 2009)
